Google開始在乎設計

去年此時,投資人著迷於蘋果的股票,如今他們則在爭搶Google的股票。3月5日,Google的股價首度超越800美元,3月6日市值達2740億美元,約為蘋果的2/3;而在半年前,其市值約為蘋果的1/3。
Google的吸引力不難理解;Google靠著巨大的線上廣告帝國賺取豐厚利潤,Android行動作業系統也吸引了數百萬新客戶。Android智慧型手機和平板電腦征服了無數市場,中國政府最近也表達擔憂,因為Google在中國行動產業的影響力太大。
Android能有如此表現,原因之一即為設計改善。適地性社群網路服務公司Foursquare最近在Android上推出了應用程式,Foursquare的員工亦指出,現在許多人認為Android的設計水準已經可以與蘋果相較。
Google開始在乎外觀,是因為Google逐漸發現,漂亮的設計是種接觸並留住廣大用戶的好方法。Pinterest等快速成長的新創企業把美觀放在首位,大型企業常常修改產品外觀,Facebook最近也公開了新設計的動態消息版面。
但Google重視設計之所以驚人,是因為Google一向有著重視演算法高於美觀的名聲。已故的蘋果前老闆賈伯斯對設計極度著迷,蘋果崛起無疑也改變了Google的想法。
