距離上一代Xbox的推出，已經有長達8年時間。但如今，遊戲主機的黃金時期已過去，行動裝置與社群網站成了遊戲玩家的新寵，微軟要如何運用新一代的Xbox，吸引玩家？
根 據微軟的統計，目前全球電玩市場達650億美元，遊戲主機市佔率雖有42％，但行動裝置和社群網站的成長卻非常快速，電玩主機的銷售則是一路下滑，即使推 出新機，銷售成績也沒有顯著提升。去年11月開賣的任天堂Wii U，至今年3月底為止，僅銷售345萬台，遠低於原先預測的550萬台。
以微軟而言，目前註冊微軟的線上遊戲與數位娛樂服務Xbox Live的使用者達到4,600萬人，但這些人貢獻的營收仍遠遠不及Office或Windows 等軟體收入。
但是，Xbox未來仍有可能成為微軟對抗蘋果、谷歌和亞馬遜的利器。如果新推出的Xbox能與電視和音樂服務整合，同時又能與Windows Phone和Surface連線，微軟仍大有機會。（吳凱琳編譯）
