菲特介紹說,Chrome的開發原則是「3S」,即「Speed(快)」、「Simplicity(簡單)」、「Security(安全)」的。安全 之所以成為原則之一是因為「網際網路上存在很多釣魚等網路欺詐及惡意軟體(病毒)等威脅。而谷歌的思路是,Web瀏覽器應該成為抵抗這些威脅的防線」(菲 特)。
谷歌遵從這一原則,為Chrome配備了多種安全功能。比如,安裝了對訪問釣魚網站及帶病毒網站的操作實施攔截的「安全瀏覽」功能,以及將訪問惡劣網站時的影響等控制在最小限度的「沙盒(Sandbox)」功能等。
並且,谷歌還在不停地研發新的安全功能。「為了使開發原則中的「安全」得以實現,始終要領先犯罪者一步」(菲特)。
其中之一就是防止會員制Web服務的用戶ID及密碼的一密多用。現在,一密多用已成為一大問題。「密碼若從某Web服務洩漏出去,其他Web服務就有可能被順藤摸瓜,遭到破解」(菲特)。
話雖如此,要是在各個Web服務中考慮使用不同密碼,對用戶來說無疑是一大負擔。因此,在Web服務中登錄密碼時,可以讓Chrome生成隨機字符串,作為密碼提交。生成的密碼讓Chrome事先記憶即可,用戶不用去記。
該功能只是一個例子,今後不一定會安裝在Chrome上。「要安裝的話,需要反覆測試。而且還必須考察用戶用起來是否舒服」(菲特)。不過,菲特表示:「我個人認為,是看好的選項之一。」(記者:勝村幸博,《日經電腦》)
