根據Google官方網站13日公布的消息表示，將以32億美元的高價併購知名恆溫器製造商Nest Labs，而32億美元的價格也是Google歷史上排名在前3名的大手筆，之前的紀錄是以32.4億美元買下廣告公司DoubleClick，及125 億美元買下摩托羅拉行動控股公司(Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc.)

Google官網的公開聲明指出，Nest主要銷售的商品為恆溫器及煙霧警報器，自2011年以來皆受到民眾好評。Google執行長佩奇(Larry Page)表示，Nest的創辦人法戴爾(Tony Fadell)及羅傑斯( Matt Rogers)已經創立了非常優秀且龐大的團隊，並且歡迎Nest的團隊加入Google這個大家族。

聲明中也引述法戴爾的意見表示，Nest很高興加入Google，有了Google的支持，他相信Nest將會發展更多設計周到的設備，而且民眾在家中的生活也會更輕鬆、簡單。

Nest出產的恆溫器原本是蘋果公司獨家專賣的產品，初期主要以美國居家普遍使用的中央溫控系統、煙霧偵測器為主，在Nest推出了新一代恆溫器後，可以透過網路連結iOS的APP軟體，進行遠距離的監控。

據科技網站AppleInsider的報導，曾任職於蘋果(Apple Inc.)公司的Nest創辦人法戴爾，被許多人認為是「iPod之父」，而旗下所帶領的Nest工作團隊中，也有一部分的員工曾經在蘋果公司任 職，2012年還請來蘋果首席專利律師理查拉頓(Richard Lutton)擔任Nest的副總裁兼任法律顧問，最近還請來前iPod軟體部門主管詹姆斯(Bryan James)擔任工程產品部門的副總裁。

AppleInsider報導指出，未來Nest仍然會以自身品牌進行營運，Google對Nest的併購很有可能帶來Nest產品在iOS系統和Android系統上的主導地位。
