FASTER
Google 宣佈建設和營運全新的高速網路「FASTER」，這條連接美國和日本的太平洋光纜將耗資 3 億美元，與中國移動、中國電信、Global Transit、KDDI、新加坡電信五家公司合資，由 NEC 作為系統供應商，預計 2016 年第二季開始運行。


FASTER 將採用最新的高品質電纜和光纖傳輸技術，最初的傳輸能力可望達到 60Tb/s。這條太平洋電纜將在千葉縣千倉以及三重縣志摩兩處登陸日本，也連接許多周邊電纜系統，以擴展至亞洲其他國家；在美國的部分則是連接主要的西海岸樞紐，包括洛杉磯、舊金山、波特蘭和西雅圖。

FASTER 的執行委員會主席 Woohyong Choi 在聲明中表示，FASTER 是連接世界各地的數百條海底通訊電纜之一，這些電纜是經營全球網際網路和通訊的重要基礎設施，而 FASTER 電纜系統具有最大的傳輸容量，這項合作協議將有利於全球網際網路的所有用戶。

或許大家都記得，Google 對於「速度」的著迷，像是在美國擴展光纖網路服務 Google Fiber；而這家公司也再提醒大家，它們有足夠的資金進行這些基礎設施。
