YouTube轉型惹爭議 仍有獨立廠牌買單

未簽約的獨立音樂影片，將遭YouTube移除（取自YouTube）

線上最大影音平台網站YouTube 17日流出消息指出，將推出訂閱式音樂串流服務，線上未簽約的獨立音樂影片將因此被剔除。許多獨立音樂業者控訴YouTube願意支付的利潤過低，而不願簽約；但也有數個獨立廠牌已經簽約，並相信這是一個「好合約」。亦有報導評論，YouTube此舉將摧毀自己的核心價值，並扼殺寶貴的平台開放性。

在這場音樂版權大戰中，獨立廠牌擁有廣大民意支持，YouTube則掌有大筆資源與資金。YouTube支付版權金的方式，是從影片前播放的廣告收入撥出一部分給唱片公司。2006年以來，總支出已超過10億美元。但獨立廠牌表示，主流大廠（索尼、環球與華納）簽約的利潤百分比例比較高，他們能從YouTube手上拿到的比例甚至與Spotify等既存的串流音樂供應服務更低。

音樂市場萎縮 獨立廠牌需抉擇

為此，許多獨立廠牌拒絕與YouTube簽約；即使YouTube堅持，超過9成音樂產業業者都已簽下合約。據《告示牌》（Billboard）報導，目前網站上莫約10%的音樂將會消失。英國廣播公司（BBC）則報導，部分音樂還是能透過站上的Vevo頻道播放。代表獨立廠牌的美國獨立音樂協會（A2IM）已經要求美國聯邦貿易委員會（FTC）「盡快介入」YouTube這樣充滿威脅性的行為。

另一方面，也有許多獨立廠牌已經簽訂合約，其中一個是歐洲重要獨立廠牌「相信數位」（Believe Digital）。據一份流出的合作備忘錄內容顯示，經過6個月的談判後，合約已於2月簽成。該廠相信，在日漸萎縮的音樂市場中，這是一份「不錯的合約」，因為使用者生產內容的利潤分紅比例上有得到提升。

YouTube仍在努力與其他未簽約的廠牌洽談。有消息指出，未簽約的音樂影片最早自23號就會被下架。但這會自特定歌曲於特定地區的播放權開始縮減，因此，大部分的使用者可能不會立即有太大的感覺。

YouTube喪失核心開放價值

部分報導認為，YouTube此舉將摧毀自己最重要的核心價值，也就是做為「各種影音內容的匯聚地」。當YouTube誕生時，它最吸引人的地方是創作者得以簡單、即時地分享自己最新的影片，這一點對音樂創作者來說至關寶貴。也因為它的高度開放性，大批用戶會前來尋找可愛、搞笑的影片、抗議現場的真實側錄、最新的電影預告與人物訪談等資料，而這種捧紅無數素人的特質即將被扼殺。

再者，要說服人們付錢聽音樂似乎越來越困難。據蘋果iTunes統計顯示，每個用戶每年約花費48美元（約新台幣1423元）購買音樂，這還不及Spotify訂閱年費的一半。倘若YouTube轉型為付費服務，也可能助長聽眾流入非法管道獲取音樂，而這將成為雙輸的局面。
